We All Have Creative Potential
Mindfulness practices help
Last week we talked about mindfulness, slowing down, non attachment, and tuning into our creative potential. Some of us dream and allow our creative mind to whisper in our ear, but we don’t act on it. It passes by like the wind. Some of us realize we have such a possibility to create and manifest our highest capacity in life, and are buried by our own distracted mind and myriad of ways we remain inattentive to our souls whisper, and some of us don’t even have vision at all.
The Buddhist teach us in mindfulness that we have a “Monkey Mind” a chattering self that, like an untrained monkey, roams around the house alone creating havoc. Our thoughts become like mischief that never ends and creates chaos if the mind is untrained and not attended to.
When the monkey is given a secure home, and is attended to, we can begin the process of tuning in. The creativity that lies deep inside us is allowed to unfold.
We all have untapped creative potential. The creative side of ourselves is not left only for the artists and musicians of the world. We have not reached our potential due to our complex mechanical way of living and conditioned tendency to be checked out or distracted by the myriad of shiny objects that take us out of ourselves.
The gift of unexpected change that can occur in an instant, means we are given an impetus or come to a realization that things are no longer sustainable as they are. For some people their work becomes unsustainable, for others their relationships stay in an endless loop of conflict and confusion, and still others may have had tragedy occur in their families.
The gem inside our painful experiences is that we learn to be with emotions, unpack experiences, and unfold old patterns so we can see life more clearly. From a bare and vulnerable place, it is an optimal time to re-envision life in conscious new ways that are more loving, sustainable and long lasting – our True Potential.
