Embodied Living: Embracing New Pathways, Mindfulness, and Vital Energy at 60

As we journey through life, each passing year adds a layer to our wealth of experiences, shaping who we are and how we perceive the world. As I step into my sixties, I find myself reflecting more deeply on life, living, and longevity. While the body may naturally decelerate, the vital spirit within continues to hum with an energy that seeks out new experiences, novel pathways, and untapped potential. This is the heart of embodied living - a conscious, mindful commitment to fully inhabit our physical selves as we navigate the flow of life.

Recently, I was challenged by my coaches, Matt and Nate, to confront the proverbial 'Elephant in the Room' - to identify and confront something that I've been putting off. The task was to choose an activity, something just challenging enough, that could move the needle of my life.

I chose to practice Kundalini yoga daily for 15 minutes with the intention of bolstering my core strength and cultivating resilience for life's hard-hitting moments.

Now on day 15 of my practice, I find the effects of this choice seeping into facets of my life in ways I never imagined. The fiery energy of Kundalini yoga - the powerful coiled energy that ascends and fuels the heart space - has been a game changer. It has not only lent me the physical stamina to present my first professional development course to a group of 52 therapists online but also the mental fortitude to maintain a state of health amidst sickness.

“My daily practice has fostered an invigorating clarity within me, boosting my capacity to hold space for new experiments with my clients.

They, too, are now able to experience the empowering impact of Kundalini and how it fosters a balance between fear and excitement. It has been rewarding to witness how this practice helps to regulate states of being, enhancing presence and generating an infectious enthusiasm for life.

This new endeavor, steeped in mindfulness and driven by a dynamic energy, has opened up new pathways of neuroplasticity.

“My daily yoga practice has become an experiment in embodied living, integrating novel sensations, approaches, and experiences that have made a marked difference in my life.”

As I sit in gratitude for the blessing of a healthy body, cherished friends, and an inspiring community,
I invite you too to harness the power of embodied practice. Whether you're looking for individual therapeutic yoga sessions or seeking to integrate embodied practices into your life, don't hesitate to reach out. It's never too late to move the needle and embark on a transformative journey of embodied living.
