Awakening and Healing Through Energy

The word healing used to cause some resistance in me.  I knew underneath the Resistance was a teacher for me, and I remained curious about this modality As a support to my own healing and others that I come in contact with.

Honestly, When I had the chance to have someone lay hands on me on a retreat, 90 percent of the time I would go with a healing massage.  How about you, if you were given the choice which form of support would you choose?

A supportive shift I made when deciding to engage in massage, was to be intuitive and selective with who laid hands on me, as I discovered there were other layers of my being that were supported through touch.  A felt sense in me knew there were greater opportunities for healing.

I would say a greater calling for a more subtle deeper understanding of what I needed to care for myself, to be in touch with parts of me that were lost.

As I grew my understanding in the power of intention,  I decided to apply it to my massage. I would establish a collective understanding with my masseuse, of my intention – and that changed the nature of how I showed up on the table and how receptive I was to transform and change.

I am thankful for Peter on Lake Atitlan for listening well and allowing me to experiment on his table with this practice.  I lay down and asked permission to grieve, as I was feeling the effects of my son’s soon departure from the nest.

In eastern traditions, being receptive, open and ready is a clear path to healing.  For some of us, we are broken down by life circumstances, and we head to the massage table to release stress.  For me I am all for relaxation, but I usually go to the table to be present with what is going on underneath the surface of my life, and in a place of wonder about how I can care more deeply for that part of me that is tense. In this case, the flood gates opened when Peter touched the inner edge of my left shoulder.

I learned through the layers of the tissue and the fascia, and yin practices that subtle changes happen slowly, and all we need to do is pay attention, listen closely to the teachings of the body.

Through these subtle forms, I naturally became captivated by energy.  Energy moves, changes, releases, and vitalizes.  My somatic intelligence led me to a greater openness to heal through the subtle realms. I could now feel one step closer to my son’s flying half way across the continent to go to college. I could release my grip on holding back and trusting his innate ability to grow and challenge himself in new ways by going off to University.
